About Claudia Buneci

Claudia’s Background

I currently live in Bucharest, Romania.

I’ve been working in this field for about 11 years. In 2016, I pursued studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, a pivotal step in my journey. Currently, I’m deeply engaged in studying Applied Functional Medicine, now in my second year of a three-year program. My passion lies in functional medicine, particularly in supporting women to balance their hormones through lifestyle adjustments. This approach goes beyond mere lifestyle changes, resonating deeply with me even before my formal education in the field.

Area of expertise

Hormones. I work with women to help improve their hormones, mostly in their perimenopause phase. So women aged 35 and older are my target clients. I’m interested in this because I’m also an older woman, and I wanted to understand how to support myself in this phase. That’s why I choose to work in an area that I’m very passionate about. This allows me to have empathy with the women I work with because I can understand them.

Becoming a Nutritionist: My Motivation

I chose to become a nutritionist because I faced my own health struggles, and conventional medicine didn’t provide satisfactory answers. Through extensive research and personal efforts to improve my health, especially during pregnancy, I developed a deep passion for nutrition. While studying and navigating through various phases of life, including pregnancy and caring for young children, I realized that nutrition is crucial but not the sole factor in overall well-being. I want to help my clients improve their health and their lives with a holistic, empathetic approach.

Claudia’s Role at OmniBloom Retreats

What Do You Hope to Get Out of the OmniBloom Experience?

I hope to collaborate with other specialists and work in a team environment. Currently, I mentor a team in my program, but I’m eager to engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration with experts in various fields. I thrive in collaborative settings and see this opportunity as a chance to learn from others and broaden my perspective. That’s why I enthusiastically agreed to participate from the very beginning — it aligns with my collaborative nature and offers a unique opportunity for professional growth.

Have You Worked at Any Retreats Before?

Yes, last year, I hosted a retreat with a friend of mine who is a somatic therapist. Our intention was to work mainly with our current clients, to meet them and spend time together in community. We talked about nutrition and hormones mainly, but we also did some somatic practices.

How Will You Work with Retreat Attendees?

I start with an evaluation to help understand what happened in this person’s life: what is his or her schedule now? What are they eating? What’s the flow of their day-to-day life? My goal is to understand what can be improved, not only in terms of what they are eating, but how they are eating, how they are moving, how they are feeling, and what are their resources like? What are their triggers? So I want to have a broader view of what’s happening in a person’s life to understand how I can best help them.

In addition to the evaluation, I will do some tests and ask them to do a food diary for a few days. Based on the test results, I may ask them to do a lab test.

What Retreat Attendees Gain from My Guidance

Clarity on what might be the best food for them. I say “might be” because I understand they need to test and implement changes in their daily life, not just during the retreat. It’s about sustainable changes that will truly impact their well-being.

I aim to provide clarity on what’s happening in their body and how they can support it, not just through nutrition but also through small, manageable lifestyle adjustments. Often, people have good lab results but still feel unwell. I help them understand that their concerns are valid and provide a pathway to change and hope.

Many clients express feeling hopeful once they see the connections and realize they can take action to improve their well-being.

Enjoying Fun Activities

I love to be in nature, I love to dance, and I have a lot of fun. Specifically, having fun with other women!

I love easy-to-prepare meals. I love salad, but a rich salad — not only greens but with sweet potatoes or lentils or other exciting ingredients that can still be done in five or ten minutes. Like a Buddha bowl, that’s my favorite.
