Raul’s Background

I am a psychotherapist who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and schema therapy. In addition to my clinical work, I am a lecturer at the university where I teach work psychology.

My education and qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education Reflection, Development, from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at Babeș-Bolyai University, a Master’s Degree in Public and Clinical Health Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Economics and International Business, from Babeș-Bolyai University.

Additionally, I’ve completed continuing education programs in schema therapy and various workshops related to mental health and well-being.

Area of Expertise and Importance of Psychotherapy

My work primarily focuses on individuals and groups in corporate environments, addressing issues such as life and professional transitions, burnout, depression, stress, and relationship dynamics both in the workplace and beyond.

I offer services including cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, schema therapy psychotherapy, somatic counseling, individual and team relational coaching, organizational consulting, as well as well-being and emotional health training.

I believe in the importance of responsibility, care, and generosity towards one another, which profoundly shapes our lives. Psychotherapy, whether individual or group-based, allows me to contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities.

I believe that with the right support and context, everyone can discover their inner resources to build authentic relationships, find psychological harmony, and live according to their most balanced and meaningful principles.

My Path to Psychotherapy

My journey with psychotherapy began when I was 22, before I even dove into psychology studies.

At that time, I was feeling pretty lost and unsure about my path in life. I had started a few different academic pursuits, from social economics to international relations, but nothing quite clicked.

It was a confusing period, and I found myself seeking clarity and direction. That’s when I decided to give therapy a try.

Working with my first therapist was truly transformative. It helped me start making better decisions and figuring out where I wanted to go.

Since then, I’ve worked with a few more therapists, each helping me tackle different parts of my life—relationships, identity, you name it. It’s been quite the journey, but I can honestly say that therapy has been an invaluable companion along the way.

What is schema therapy?

Schema therapy is a form of psychotherapy that examines a person’s history and how it influences their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, particularly in stressful situations. It aims to change emotional patterns that lead to unhealthy behaviors such as addiction or conflict.

Schema therapy incorporates psychosomatic interventions, which involve using the body to change emotional responses to triggers. I would like to teach participants movements that can help them manage emotions like anger, sadness, or anxiety through bodily connection to the nervous system.

Background in yoga

I began practicing yoga and attending yoga retreats approximately 12 years ago. Last December, while in Thailand, I completed a teacher’s training program in yin yoga. This approach, emphasizing meditation, breathing exercises, and deepening connection with the body, is what I plan to integrate into our upcoming retreat.

Over the years, I’ve had diverse and enriching experiences attending retreats in places like Croatia, Bali, and Thailand, which have deepened my understanding of participants’ main needs.

Motivation to Join OmniBloom Retreat

While my background includes various professional domains like finance and sales, all my work has revolved around the need for care, kindness, and emotional development.

I am yet to work at a retreat but I have attended many as a participant. I am very eager to facilitate connections and a sense of belonging within the group. My aim is to help participants reach a more mindful state and provide them with resources to function optimally even after the retreat. I hope to find inspiration, happiness, and forge meaningful connections with others during this retreat.

I will guide participants through therapy sessions and teach yoga. I would love for us to do an ecstatic dance event or a body movement dance workshop!

Health with Psychotherapy and Yoga

My approach to improving health through psychotherapy/yoga is multidisciplinary, focusing on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects. I recommend clients practice mindfulness and breathing exercises, along with psychosomatic movements, outside of therapy sessions. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, and exercise. Improving relationships, including romantic and work relationships, is also integral to the healing process.

What Retreat Attendees Gain from My Guidance

Retreat attendees can expect to gain self-awareness, clarity on relationship dynamics, tools for regulating the nervous system, and competencies for contributing to the creation of healthy communities. They will also benefit from the yoga sessions, with enhanced flexibility and overall well-being.

The Benefits of Group Work

Group work at a retreat offers numerous benefits. Unlike one-on-one sessions, group work provides a higher sense of exposure and allows participants to regulate anxiety better by sharing experiences with others. Participants can learn from each other, create connections, and develop a sense of belonging and acceptance. Studies show that resilience grows as individuals engage in new experiences within a group setting, leading to a greater sense of connectedness, safety, and acceptance.

Activities and Interests for Fun

Dancing has been a huge part of my life — I actually did it professionally for about 10 years when I was younger. It’s something that’s stuck with me ever since. Nowadays, I try to incorporate movement into my life whenever I can, whether it’s through dancing or other forms of conscious movement. It really energizes me and brings me a lot of joy. Let me think a bit more about other things I enjoy doing for fun!
